Jazz club in a vaulted cellar on rue Lanterne since 1948, with concerts Wednesday to Saturday from 19:30.
The Hot Club de Lyon was founded in 1948 by students from the École des Beaux-Arts, and it bills itself as the oldest jazz club in Europe still running. It occupies a vaulted cellar on rue Lanterne, between the Saône and the Hôtel de Ville, and puts on more than 200 concerts a year, from New Orleans and swing to bebop, gypsy jazz and modern jazz.
Concerts run from Wednesday to Saturday, starting at 19:30. A standard night costs €13, €16 or €20 depending on the rate, members pay less, and some jam sessions are free. Book online for the named trios and quartets. Not for you if you want to dance until 05:00: this is a listening room and an early start to the night.
Easy door; buy online for popular concerts and arrive before the 19:30 start.
