Grade II listed Kings Heath pub with two upstairs rooms for gigs and club nights, where UB40 played their first show in 1979.

Hare & Hounds has stood on Kings Heath High Street since 1820, and the current building dates from 1907. It is Grade II listed, with Art Nouveau tiles in the entrance and on the stairs. UB40 played their first gig here in 1979, and since 2007 it has been one of the city's busiest music pubs, with two bars downstairs and two venues upstairs.

The programme covers jazz, indie, folk, funk, reggae, soul, house, techno and drum and bass. Gigs usually start at 19:30 for £10–26, and club nights such as Kylie Wears Berghaus cost about £15. It stays open until 02:00 on Friday and Saturday. Not for you if you want to stay in the centre: it is a bus ride south.
