Gorilla opened in 2012 under the railway arches on Whitworth Street West, beside Oxford Road station, in the space once used by the Green Room arts venue. The music room holds 550 people, including a raised balcony facing the stage. Downstairs, a wood-panelled bar and kitchen serves cocktails, beer, breakfasts and burgers to anyone, with or without a ticket.
Bands play from the early evening, and club nights such as Impulse start at 23:00 on a Friday. Times and prices vary by event, so check the listing. The O2 Ritz is nearby, and YES and Joshua Brooks are a short walk away. Not for you if you want a dedicated club: gigs come first here, and not every night has a club after the band.
