Brewery tavern by Cologne Cathedral since 1904, with Köbes service, a medieval vaulted cellar and a beer garden by the Heinzelmännchen fountain.
Peter Josef Früh opened his house brewery and tavern near the cathedral in 1904, and Früh am Dom is still the classic first stop for a Kölsch. Inside are several rooms full of history, including a cellar with medieval vaults, and outside a beer garden looks onto the Heinzelmännchen fountain and the cathedral.
The Köbes, the traditional waiter, brings fresh Kölsch to scrubbed wooden tables and is known for a quick tongue. It opens at 11:00 on weekdays and 10:00 at the weekend, and closes at 23:00 from Sunday to Thursday and at midnight on Friday and Saturday. Put a beer mat on your glass when you have had enough, or another one will arrive. Not for you if you want a late night: this is where the night starts.
Walk-in brewery tavern; groups can reserve online.
