Cocktail bar in a former mechanic's workshop by Piazza Trilussa, known for its aperitivo buffet and on the 2025 World's 50 Best Bars list.
Freni e Frizioni, Italian for brakes and clutches, took its name from the mechanic's workshop it replaced on Via del Politeama, a few steps from Piazza Trilussa and Ponte Sisto. The cocktails are inventive without being precious, and the little square in front fills with people drinking outside. It was number 58 on the extended list of The World's 50 Best Bars in 2025.
It opens every day from 18:30 to 02:00. The aperitivo buffet is the early draw: Time Out listed it at €12, served from 18:30 to 21:00, with cocktails at around €10. Tram 8 stops at Belli, a few minutes away. Not for you if you want a quiet table on a weekend night: the square is the overflow, and it gets crowded.
