EKKO is a small venue in a narrow canal house on the Bemuurde Weerd, eleven minutes on foot from Utrecht Centraal, and it turns 40 in 2026. It calls itself the alternative, and the history backs that up: Four Tet, Beach House and Mitski played early Dutch shows here. Evenings are for bands, from indie folk to black metal.
After 23:00 the room becomes a club. Diep In De Groef, a recurring Friday night, mixes new music and club classics from 23:30 to 04:00, free with a reservation before midnight or €5.50 at the door. Thursdays bring throwback and karaoke nights. Club nights are 18+ with ID, the bar is card only and lockers cost €2–4. Not for you if you want a big room: it is small, and popular nights sell out.
