Café-restaurant on the Nieuwe Rijn with a wide terrace opposite the City Hall, a terrace boat and cocktails, open daily from 10:00.
Einstein is a café-restaurant on the Nieuwe Rijn, named after the professor, as Visit Leiden puts it. It has a wide terrace opposite the City Hall and an original terrace boat, and a Wanderlog list mentions its cocktails. It opens every day from 10:00 and publishes no closing time.
Terrace tables cannot be reserved, and the upstairs room with its own bar takes groups of 17 or more. A 2020 DutchReview guide described a Wednesday international student night, but the café's own site does not mention it, so check before you rely on it. Not for you if you need step-free access: the building has no facilities for reduced mobility.
Walk-in café-restaurant; terrace tables cannot be reserved.
