Duque Brewpub sits on Calçada do Duque, the long stairway that climbs from Rossio to the top of Bairro Alto. Time Out calls it the city's first brewpub, and it works as a kind of headquarters for Portuguese craft beer, with 12 rotating taps and a long bottle list.
Some beer is brewed on site, and the snacks are simple. It opens at 15:00 every day and closes at midnight early in the week, 01:00 on Thursday and 02:00 on Friday and Saturday, so it works as a first stop before Bairro Alto. Not for you if you want cocktails or a dance floor.
