Techno club founded in 1992, reopened in August 2025 in a former trade-fair hall at the Alte Messe, with two floors and bass on Fridays.
The Distillery started in 1992 and spent most of its life at Kurt-Eisner-Straße 108a, long billed as the oldest techno club in eastern Germany. Redevelopment closed that site in May 2023. On 30 August 2025 the club reopened at Eggebrechtstraße 2, in Messehalle 7 and a neighbouring hall on the Alte Messe grounds, on a lease that runs to 2034.
The new building is roughly twice the size of the old one, with approval for 600 guests. Downstairs is meant to feel like the old cellar, and the upper floor also hosts concerts. Saturday is the main club night, and Friday leans towards bass and drum and bass. Not for you if you want a polished superclub: the operators say they will not chase trends.
Long-running Leipzig techno club, described as eastern Germany's oldest; Matthias Tanzmann is a long-time resident.

Distillery began in an abandoned building in Leipzig and has had a legal site since 1995, on Kurt-Eisner-Straße near the Bayerischer Bahnhof. The club had to leave that site in 2023 for a housing project and now runs at the Alte Messe, Eggebrechtstraße 2.
