Los Angeles branch of the New York cocktail bar in the Arts District: a menu grouped by mood, rare spirits and weekend walk-ins that are rarely possible.
Death & Co Los Angeles is the third Death & Co bar, opened in late December 2019 at 818 East 3rd Street in the Arts District by David Kaplan, Alex Day and Devon Tarby with Ravi DeRossi. Time Out describes an underground cocktail bar known for rare spirits, and The Infatuation calls it a low-lit subterranean cocktail spot. The menu is grouped by mood, such as light and playful or boozy and honest, and the 2019 opening described a main bar with a 25-drink menu plus Standing Room, a walk-up bar with eight cocktails, open Thursday to Saturday.
Time Out's list updated on 8 October 2026 gives hours of 18:00 to 00:00 on Monday, Tuesday and Sunday, 18:00 to 01:00 on Wednesday and Thursday and 18:00 to 02:00 on Friday and Saturday. Walk-in chances on weekends are described as slim to none, so book online. Drinks are listed at $18 to $20 in the 2026 list and $24 to $26 in a March 2025 review, with a $13 cocktail happy hour from 18:00 to 20:00 on Monday to Wednesday and Sunday in that review. Not for you if you want a loud room or a late weekday.
Reservations are made online; Time Out says weekend walk-in chances are slim to none.
