CC Blooms has been on Greenside Place, at the top of Leith Walk beside the Edinburgh Playhouse, since 1994, and calls itself Edinburgh's original LGBTQ+ bar. Time Out has called it the city's oldest gay bar and one of its most welcoming, with pop, house and drag performances. It has been refurbished under new management.
It opens every day and stays open until 03:00, so it works as a bar in the evening and a club after midnight. Brunch and pre-theatre bookings fill the daytime, and walk-ins are welcome. Not for you if you want a specialist DJ booking: the music is pop and party first, and that is the point.
