Café Van Bommel

Café Van Bommel is the long-running dance café of Platielstraat, described by the city's tourist listing as a household name in going out in Maastricht for twenty years. By day it serves burgers, bagels and pancakes. Around 22:00 the furniture moves aside, the lights change and the music gets louder. The bar lists eight speciality beers on tap and eleven gins.

According to the café's own site it opens at 11:00 and closes at 02:00 from Sunday to Thursday and at 03:00 on Friday and Saturday. No entry fee or age limit is published, so bring ID. You can reserve a table by phone or email. Not for you if you want a booked DJ line-up: this is a party café where the room, not a poster, drives the night.
