Madrid's best-known jazz club, with concerts at 20:00 and 22:00 every night, now in the Ateneo building on Calle de Santa Catalina.
Café Central spent more than forty years on Plaza del Ángel before moving in April 2026 to the Ateneo de Madrid building on Calle de Santa Catalina, a few streets away in the same Huertas grid. The format did not change: live jazz every night of the year, with two sets at 20:00 and 22:00. In 2002 Down Beat magazine listed it among the best places in the world to hear jazz.
It opens at 17:30 and closes at 00:30, and concert tickets can be bought with a set menu. It is the easiest way to start a Madrid night slowly: music, dinner and then a short walk to the bars of Huertas. Not for you if you want to dance, or if you only head out at midnight.
