Music bar and club on Luxemburger Straße since 1979, with concerts, DJ parties and poetry slams in a room for about 250 people.
Blue Shell opened in 1979 on Luxemburger Straße and has been a meeting point for Cologne's musicians, actors and writers ever since. Frank Zappa passed through in the eighties, the music magazine Spex held editorial meetings here, and The Clash and Guns N' Roses are part of its story. The room holds about 250 people.
It calls itself a home of music, art and spoken word: concerts, DJ parties and poetry slams, with a 2026/27 programme that runs from November into May 2027 and includes Neon Paradise parties. Times and prices depend on the event. Trams 12, 15, 16 and 18 stop at Barbarossaplatz, about 300 metres away. Not for you if you want a big club: this is a small room with a long memory.
Walk-in or ticketed, depending on the event.
