Intimate Amsterdam venue on Spuistraat and home of the city's hip-hop culture — afrobeats, R&B and dancehall seven nights a week.
Bitterzoet opened on the Spuistraat in 2003, a short walk from Centraal Station, and grew into one of the city's key rooms for hip-hop and alternative music. The main hall holds about 350 people. It works as both a club and a stage, with DJs and live bands and something on the programme every day.
Paradiso regularly books concerts here, which is how touring acts end up in such a small room. Nights run from hip-hop, dancehall and R&B to electronic sets, and the age limit changes per event, from all ages to 18+ and 25+. Not for you if you like to decide on the night: check the agenda and buy a ticket first.
