Base is an urban garden bar on the Passeio dos Clérigos, with grass, olive trees and a wooden terrace of sofas and high tables, and the Clérigos Tower rising behind it. On a clear evening it is one of the most popular places in the centre for a first drink, with cocktails, beer and cheese or charcuterie boards.
It opens daily at 11:00 and closes at 01:00 from Sunday to Thursday and at 02:00 on Friday, Saturday and the eve of holidays. A weekly programme of music and events runs alongside. The Galerias de Paris bars are a two-minute walk away. Not for you if it rains: almost everything here is outdoors.
