1930s ballroom on the Gallowgate with a sprung floor and a famous neon sign, now a 1,900-capacity gig venue, doors usually at 19:00.
The Barrowland Ballroom opened on the Gallowgate in 1934, built by Maggie McIver, known as the Barras Queen. Fire largely destroyed it in 1958, and it reopened on Christmas Eve 1960. It became a concert venue in 1983, and today it holds 1,900 people standing on a sprung dance floor, under the animated neon sign that is one of the city's landmarks.
Doors are usually at 19:00, and the big shows sell out: Beartooth, Band of Horses and two nights of Royal Blood are on the autumn 2026 list. There is no lift yet, but a stairclimber and a raised platform serve wheelchair users. Not for you if you want a club night: this is a gig room, and the night ends after the encore.
Ticket-only gigs that often sell out; doors are usually at 19:00.
