Bar do Cofre is Astor's speakeasy-style bar in the basement of the Farol Santander at Rua João Brícola 24 in the centre. It occupies the former Banespão bank vault, and guests go down a staircase and through heavy steel doors. The menu is the sixth generation of the Biomas do Brasil cocktail list, which the bar describes as Brazilian universal mixology, with original and classic cocktails.
Opening hours on the bar's page are Tuesday 16:00 to 23:00, Wednesday and Thursday 16:00 to 00:00, Friday and Saturday 12:00 to 01:00 and Sunday 12:00 to 20:00. No Monday hours are listed, and Fodor's says the bar is closed on Mondays. Astor's FAQ says no entry or reservation fee is charged, walk-ins are accepted, and payment is by all card brands, VR, Alelo, Sodexo and Ticket meal vouchers, and Pix. Alcohol is not served to anyone under 18. Not for you if you want a dance floor: no DJ or live music is listed on the pages checked.
