Cultural venue on the old Viehhof site, built from containers and decommissioned U-Bahn cars, with club nights mostly at €8–15.
Bahnwärter Thiel opened in autumn 2015 on the former Viehhof, the old livestock market next to the Schlachthof. The venue is assembled from shipping containers, a pavilion that once belonged to the Lenbachhaus, decommissioned U-Bahn cars and a 1967 tram from Ulm, and its lease runs until at least 2027.
Alongside flea markets, theatre, readings and workshops, it hosts club nights and raves: the autumn 2026 programme includes electronic series such as 135+, SYNTHX and Flugmodus. Most club nights cost €8–15, and opening times depend on the event. Not for you if you want polish: this is an improvised site, part of it outdoors, and it looks like one.
Easy door; buy tickets in advance for the bigger club nights.
