Bad Manors

Bad Manors is a food and music bar at the Carfax site on Gwigwi Mrwebi Street, started by entrepreneur Chris Van Den Berg. In Your Pocket says it moved here after earlier locations at Illovo Muse and Parkhurst. It has a courtyard and a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf, serves chicken wings and a signature burger, and lists a Drunken Horse Gin cocktail. The music runs from speed garage and house to Afro-tech, and Detention Radio's Night School gives new DJs a slot on the first Thursday of each month.

In Your Pocket lists Wednesday to Saturday from 15:00 to 02:00 and Sunday from 14:00 to 00:00, closed Monday and Tuesday. A June 2026 listing gives different hours (Friday and Saturday from 20:00 to 00:00, Sunday from 12:00 to 06:00) and calls the programme techno and alternative, so check the Instagram account @badmanorsjozi for the night. Time Out names it among the four venues on the street, and In Your Pocket says Good Omens in Melville, its sister venue, is often a starting point before Bad Manors. Not for you if you want a seated dinner with no music.
