Concert and party complex by S-Bahn Hirschgarten, running since 1991, with rock, metal, punk and alternative nights across several halls.
Backstage started on 11 January 1991 and moved several times around Munich's west before settling at Reitknechtstraße 6, near Hirschgarten S-Bahn station, in 2007. It is a cluster of halls: Werk at about 800 square metres, Halle at about 260 and Club at about 200, plus outdoor areas and a beer garden.
Most nights are concerts, heavy on rock, metal and punk: the October 2026 calendar includes The Devil Wears Prada, Clawfinger and Raised Fist, plus a Smells like Halloween party on 31 October. Over the years its party series have included Rockers, Freak Out and Crossing Friday. Not for you if you want electronic music or a dressed-up crowd: this is guitars, band shirts and loud singalongs.
