Baba au Rum opened in 2009 on Klitiou, a small street near Syntagma, and Athinorama calls it the spot where the new golden age of Athenian cocktails began. Founder Thanos Prunarus built it around rum, with a large collection and a menu that honours the tiki tradition while reworking the classics. He also founded the Athens Rum Festival.
It was number 27 in The World's 50 Best Bars 2025 and number 55 on the 2026 extended list. The bar opens every day from 19:00 to 03:00, which makes it an easy late stop on the way to a club. Not for you if rum is not your spirit: the whole menu is built around it.
