Apfelwein Wagner on Schweizer Straße has been run by the same family since 1931, and it still serves its own homemade apple wine with regional dishes from a weekly menu. Schweizer Straße is one of Sachsenhausen's main streets, so it is an easy first stop before the bars and the riverbank.
It opens every day from 11:00 to midnight. Tables can be booked online or by phone, and groups of 21 or more use a separate form. Unlike some of the older taverns, it takes credit and debit cards. Order the apple wine pure, or sauergespritzt with mineral water. Not for you if you want a cocktail: the drink here is apple wine.

Apple wine has been served at Schweizer Straße 71 since 1902. Adolf and Leni Wagner bought the property in 1931 and served their first glass on 19 December 1931. The family-run business is now in its third generation.
