Adega Etelvina is a counter-only wine bar on Travessa dos Fiéis de Deus, in the middle of Bairro Alto. Owner Tiago Pinheiro Alves opened it to give the neighbourhood somewhere to drink well without paying much: around 50 Portuguese wines, by the glass from €4.
The food is what he calls grandmother's cooking: cheese, cured meats, preserves, seafood and boquerones. It opens at 18:00 from Tuesday to Saturday and closes at 02:00 midweek and 03:00 on Friday and Saturday. Not for you if you want a table: there are only stools at the counter, and it fills quickly.
