Rosebank-area bar at 144 Jan Smuts Avenue with a first-floor terrace, cocktails named after a Tennessee Williams play, local DJs and drag brunches.
A Streetbar Named Desire is at 144 Jan Smuts Avenue, near Rosebank Gautrain station. In Your Pocket describes emerald-green interiors and a large first-floor terrace overlooking Art Gallery Row. The cocktails are named after lines and scenes from the Tennessee Williams play and often use Middle Eastern spices, while the small plates draw on Turkish, Israeli and Lebanese cooking, with about 20 vegetarian options. Time Out's 2025 bar list describes a three-storey venue with a dance floor and bar on the ground floor and a more relaxed bar on the third, with local DJs and drag brunches, and calls the drinks fantastic though on the pricey side.
The bar's own site lists Monday to Thursday from 16:00 until late and Friday and Sunday from 14:00 until late, and does not list Saturday; In Your Pocket gives longer weekend hours, and the kitchen is said to close at 22:00. Bookings run through the site, by phone on 011 268 6485 or on WhatsApp on 061 073 7039. Time Out's August 2026 report names it as an early-evening start for a Friday out. Not for you if you want a big club floor.
