One of the oldest cafés in Brussels, by the Galeries Saint-Hubert, pouring gueuze, kriek and faro from 11:00 to midnight.
À la Mort Subite, beside the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, calls itself one of the oldest cafés in the capital, and Jacques Brel was a regular. This is where you drink the Brussels beers: Mort Subite gueuze and kriek, faro on draught, plus Belgian beers from elsewhere.
A draught Maes pils is €4.20, a kriek €6.80, a faro €6 and a bottle of gueuze on the lees €8.50. It opens 11:00 to midnight, Monday to Saturday, and is closed on Sunday. Not for you if you want music or a late finish: it is a café, and it shuts at midnight.
No door policy: walk in and find a table.
