The 10 best clubs in Zurich, ranked: Hive, Supermarket, Frieda's Büxe, Gonzo and more, with entry prices, closing times and the 20+ and 21+ door rules.
The best clubs in Zurich are closer together than the city's reputation suggests. Most sit in two districts: Kreis 5, the old industrial west around Hardbrücke station, where Hive and Supermarket share Geroldstrasse, and Kreis 4 around Langstrasse, where Gonzo, Plaza and Frieda's Büxe keep the hip-hop and late house crowds busy. A third cluster at Bellevue, by the lake, adds Palais Mascotte and Club Bellevue.
This list ranks the ten we would choose for a weekend, with what we could verify for each: the entry price where it is published, the closing time, the age rule and one honest reason to skip it. The basics first. Most clubs open at 23:00 and close at 04:00, several run to 06:00 at the weekend, and Hive keeps going until 09:00 on Sunday. Entry is usually CHF 20–30. Some doors are 20+ or 21+, and the night network only runs on Friday and Saturday.
We ranked clubs on five things: sound, crowd, door, late licence and value. Sound means a room built for dancing. Crowd means people who came for the music. Door means how predictable entry is and what each club asks of you, including the 20+ and 21+ age rules that are common here. Late licence means how long the night runs. Value weighs the price against what you get, which matters in a city this expensive. Every club here has events listed for 2026, and every price, time and address comes from the club's own website, Resident Advisor or Zurich's official tourism listings. We do not sell tickets ourselves.
Three rooms by Hardbrücke station, house and techno bookings such as Gui Boratto and Britta Arnold, and a Saturday that runs until 09:00 on Sunday morning. It is the most complete club night in the city. Skip it if you are under 21 or want an early night: the weekend door is 21+ and the floor peaks late.
A former garage a few doors from Hive, where outside promoters run the nights: Sauvage and 26HERTZ for techno and house, Roxy for disco, and the odd Saturday day rave. Friday nights recently ran until 05:00 and Saturdays until 06:00. Skip it if you want one sound you can rely on: check who has the night before you go.
A small club on Friedaustrasse built like a living room, with vintage sofas, a smoking lounge, the DJ among the crowd and nights that can run until 08:00, even on a Thursday. Entry is around CHF 20–25. Skip it if you want space: the room is small and the layout takes a moment to work out.
A small electronic club near Limmatplatz with a seasonal cocktail menu built on wild plants and herbs, and bookings that run from Kalabrese all night to DJ Format. The bar is cashless, photos are banned and an awareness team is on site. Skip it if you want a big production: this is an intimate room built around the bar and the DJ.
A music club on Hardstrasse that often puts a concert and a DJ night into the same evening, from Nik Bärtsch's Ronin on Mondays to parties such as Puras Gatas and Choke. It has a long bar, a strong sound system and a covered outdoor area. Skip it if you want a pure techno club: the genre changes almost every night.
A central club on Theaterstrasse whose name dates back to 1916, playing Italo disco, disco funk and house, with Toy Tonics and the queer KIKI party among its recent nights. Most Fridays run from 22:00 to 04:00, and special events start earlier or finish later. Skip it if you want hard techno: this is a club built for disco and house.
An unmarked club on Langstrasse, found by the queue at the phone box, that plays hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats and pop from Wednesday to Saturday. Midweek is free and ends at 04:00; Friday and Saturday cost from CHF 20 and run to 06:00. Skip it if you are under 20 or came for house and techno.
The former Kosmos cinema at the southern end of Langstrasse, now a venue with concerts early in the evening and club nights from 23:00 until 04:00, Thursday to Saturday. A club ticket is around CHF 25, and the hip-hop and Afrobeats night Plaze to Be is one of the busiest. Skip it if you want a dark, underground room.
Club, restaurant and stage at Pelikanplatz, with a history that includes the last official Dada soirée in 1919. Weekend club nights cover hip-hop and R&B, Latin, 00s hits and house, from CHF 20–30, and the cloakroom is always staffed. Skip it if you want underground music or a low-key crowd.
A small electronic club at the Bellevue tram junction, with a strong sound system, deep house and drum & bass nights from Thursday to Sunday, and a party capacity of about 500. There is no dress code, just a rule of respect. Skip it if you want a long warehouse night: the room is compact and central.
Group the clubs by district and you rarely need transport between them. Hive and Supermarket are a few doors apart on Geroldstrasse by Hardbrücke station, and Exil is a short walk along Hardstrasse; Kauz, near Limmatplatz, is a 15–20 minute walk away. In Kreis 4, Gonzo is on Langstrasse and Plaza at its southern end, with Frieda's Büxe a few minutes further towards Albisriederplatz. Palais Mascotte and Club Bellevue are both at Bellevue, and Kaufleuten is about 15 minutes on foot across the river.
On Friday and Saturday the night network runs from about 01:00: night buses leave Zürich HB every 30 minutes until 04:15, and the night S-Bahn runs mostly hourly. A normal ticket is valid, and a one-hour city ticket costs CHF 4.70. From Sunday to Thursday there is no night network, so plan to walk or take a taxi.
Zurich rewards a plan. Pick a district, check the age rule on the ticket, and remember that outside Friday and Saturday there is no night bus home. For prices, the night network and how the night runs from apéro to closing, read our full Zurich nightlife guide. If you want to choose an area first, our guide to Zurich nightlife by neighbourhood covers each district in turn. For ticketed nights and events, see NightFind tickets. Heading south afterwards? Milan is the next big night out across the Alps.
For house and techno, Hive: three rooms by Hardbrücke station and Saturday nights that run until 09:00. For hip-hop and Afrobeats, Gonzo on Langstrasse.
Most close at 04:00. At the weekend Gonzo and Supermarket run to 06:00, and Hive to 07:00 on Friday and 09:00 on Saturday.
Usually CHF 20–30. Examples: CHF 20 at Frieda's Büxe, CHF 25 at Plaza, from CHF 20 at Gonzo on Friday and Saturday, and from CHF 20 to 30 at Kaufleuten. Gonzo is free on Wednesday and Thursday.
18+ at most clubs. Gonzo is 20+, Hive's weekend nights are 21+, and Plaza's hip-hop night is 20+ for men. Bring a physical ID.
Mostly in Kreis 5: Hive and Supermarket on Geroldstrasse by Hardbrücke, and Kauz near Limmatplatz. Frieda's Büxe, on Friedaustrasse, is the late-night house and techno room on the Kreis 4 side.
